The Center for Relationship and Sexual Health (CRSH) is pleased to announce a new series of casual panel discussion workshops titled “What’s It Like to Be in My Shoes?”. These workshops have been designed to encourage learning directly from a member (or members) of the minority population. With cultural competency and empathy as the basis, these workshops will offer brief educational presentation, while providing the opportunity to gain first-person knowledge, through facilitated discussion and direct questions and answers, facilitated by Mark McMillan, a Behavioral Health and Addiction Therapist from the Center. Each 3-hour workshop will start with a 1-hour educational presentation, followed by a casual panel discussion. Join us at our workshop “Being Transgender,” where Mark McMillan will facilitate an educational segment, leading to a panel discussion with members of the Metro Detroit transgender community. Are you currently treating trans clients? Do you have a loved one who is transgender? Mark will offer tips on appropriate concepts and language to use in session and he will offer the opportunity to hear first-hand what it’s like for trans clients being treated in a clinical setting. There will also be plenty of opportunity to bring your own questions from your current case load.
