The Center for Relationship and Sexual Health (CRSH) is pleased to announce a new series of casual panel discussion workshops titled “What’s It Like to Be in My Shoes?”. These workshops have been designed to encourage learning directly from a member (or members) of the minority population. With cultural competency and empathy as the basis, these workshops will offer brief educational presentation, while providing the opportunity to gain first-person knowledge, through facilitated discussion and direct questions and answers, facilitated by Mark McMillan, a Behavioral Health and Addiction Therapist from the Center. Each 3-hour workshop will start with a 1-hour educational presentation, followed by a casual panel discussion.  Join us at our workshop “Being Pansexual and Asexual,” where Mark McMillan will facilitate an educational segment, leading to a panel discussion with members of the Metro Detroit LGBTQ+ community on treating clients who identify with a “lesser” known sexual orientation, including pansexual and asexual. The educational proportion will also cover broad provider and other treatment considerations for gay or queer identified clients. This workshop will offer the opportunity to hear first-hand what it’s like being treated when identifying as a lesser known sexual orientation in a clinical setting, and an opportunity to bring your own questions from your current case load.
