OARS is an acronym for Open questions, Affirmations, Reflective listening and Summarizing. Though these 4 skills are widely used in various therapeutic settings, they are used in Motivational Interviewing to express empathy, explore ambivalence and guide the client to articulating reasons for change. Focus of this training will be on OARS skill development.
Previous training in Motivational Interviewing is encouraged.
