Mental Health professionals know that often
a neurodevelopmental disorder such as Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism
Spectrum Disorder, Communication Disorders, and others co-occur with anxiety,
depression and other mental health conditions. However, most therapists lack
the important foundational understanding and practical knowledge of appropriate
methodology needed to see progress with clients who are neurodiverse. Participants will leave this course armed
with increased confidence in detecting a potential neurodiverse diagnosis and
making appropriate diagnostic testing referrals; utilizing appropriate tools,
methods and strategies as well as modifying “old favorites” for this unique
population; A background in Social Skills Psychoeducation and its importance
for pediatric and adult patients with various disabilities; and creating a
treatment plan including measurable goals for clients with similar
profiles. Facilitated by Franki Bagdade,
M. Ed. Franki has a master’s in special education and over 20 years in the
field of education and she is currently a clinical social work intern. Franki’s
unique lens of being both an educator and mental health professional helps her
to understand learning differences and how to best address the needs of
patients who are neurodiverse.
