We as
individuals, and our society, are experiencing multiple challenges each
day. Therefore, it is more important
than ever that we maintain the process of learning and growing professionally
(personally too, of course). NASW’s Code
of Ethics continues to facilitate this growth for Social Workers, through the
revisions that guide us in our work with our Clients. This seminar will address the highlights of
the code’s revisions regarding Cultural Awareness, Implicit Biases and Social
Diversity. It will also identify
definitions, look at some historical facts to enhance our view and
understanding of unconscious/implicit bias; blind spot bias; and
self-education. The benefits to our
Clients, and empowerment for them, to let them teach us about their culture and
related life experiences to help mitigate our implicit biases will also be
addressed.
