Children are faced with an overwhelming
amount of stress. As a result of this stress, children either indulge in
unhealthy behaviors or become helpless. Building resilience in children
encourages focusing on natural strengths, fostering hope and optimism, avoiding
risky behaviors and improving self-esteem and self-perception. In particular,
this course will focus on the seven āCāsā needed for bouncing back from
adversity: Competence, Confidence, Connection, Character, Contribution, Coping
and Control. In addition, this workshop will provide an overview of child
centered play therapy and the impact of structure, communication, empathy,
leadership and trust. Upon competition of this course, providers will acquire a
better understanding of the importance of building resilience in children and
will learn the proper use of therapeutic tools and interventions.
