Our brains are
quick to judge! Implicit bias refers to the unconscious attitudes and
judgements held by individuals. Social characteristics that can trigger
implicit biases include: Age, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Race, Culture,
Education Level and Health Status. This workshop will take a deeper dive into
our own biases and how this impacts the diverse populations that we service.
During this workshop, we will discuss the barriers and disparities to access
and delivery of health care services, the impacts of stereotypes, racism and
discrimination, the importance of practicing cultural competence and effective
strategies to remedy implicit bias!
