Mental Health
professionals know that often the neurodevelopmental disorder Autism co-occurs
with anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions. However, most
therapists lack the important foundational understanding and practical
knowledge of the appropriate methodology needed to see progress with clients
who are neurodivergent. Participants
will leave this course armed with increased confidence in detecting a potential
autism diagnosis and when further testing is indicated; utilizing appropriate
tools, methods, and strategies as well as modifying “old favorites” for this
unique population; A background in neurodiversity affirming social skills
psychoeducation; and practice writing treatment goals that keep the
neurodiversity affirming paradigm in mind.
Facilitated by Franki Bagdade, M. Ed. LLMSW. Franki has a master’s in
special education and over 20 years in the field of education and an LLMSW.
Franki’s unique lens of being both an educator and mental health professional
helps her to understand learning differences and how to best address the needs
of patients who are neurodiverse. **Please note that this course does have some
material repeated from Franki's full day course "Neurodiversity and the
Psychotherapist: Practical tips and tools to meet the needs of your

understanding of Autism and its implications in mental health settings.
