This workshop
is presented for those who currently, and/or those who anticipate they will,
work directly with those who suffer from compulsive hoarding disorder. We'll
briefly go over what hoarding is and what it isn't and spend most of our time
on reviewing and discussing various treatment strategies that work (as well as
those that don't) for those who have mild, moderate, or severe degrees of
hoarding. We'll also spend some time on strategies that work best for loved
ones to be assets rather than impediments to the treatment process and discuss
the various helpful (and, often, necessary) ancillary resources (books, video
clips, support groups, and public and private organizations which exist. Just in time for the new year! Our
relationship to stuff is complex. Terrence Shulman has been a licensed social
worker and addictions therapist since 1997 and has specialized in the assessment
and treatment of hoarding disorder and has written a book about it and
presented numerous times on this popular and baffling issue.
